Pendower Farm Shop Family - three generations

ABOUT US

A history of the family

Pendower Farm shop is run by Will and Robyn Taffinder.

Pendower Farm Shop is the 3rd evolution of our shop. It all started in 1996 when Simon and Charlotte (Will’s parents) started selling produce through their kitchen window to walkers passing by on the South West Coast Path. They would open the window for a couple of hours in the afternoon selling dressed crab, and any fish they’d caught that morning. It was incredibly popular and as word got out, they realised they had an opportunity to open a more permanent farm shop. They moved into a small barn on the farm where they were able to expand their offering, and continued to grow in popularity.

So much so that in 2024 we decided as a family it was time to move again, this time to a bigger, purpose-built premises. At the same time Simon and Charlotte handed the farm shop over to us (Will and Robyn). So now the farm shop is situated on our farm, Pendower Farm, just 2 minutes down the road from its original home at Curgurrell Farm.

This does mean the farm shop has changed name from Curgurrell to Pendower Farm Shop, but it’s the same amazing produce, and the same family.

Pendower Farm Robyn and Will Taffinder

We have created a courtyard area here at Pendower with the farm shop on one side, a covered seating area beside it to enjoy coffee, cake, and a view of the sea, and farm animals on the other. We want people to have more of a farm experience, and an opportunity to see what we are up to. Children especially love to see the pigs and calves.

We are open 6 days a week from 1st April to end October, and every day in the run up to Christmas when we also sell locally grown Christmas trees. The winter months when the shop is closed are a busy time on the farm with lambing, calving, and a lot of preserving to make jams, cordials, and lemonade for the shop. There’s never a quiet moment on the farm!
